In August 1968, Francis Sensei was introduced to Kakutsuru Shorin-Ryu Karate at Bitburg AB, Germany. Upon returning to Corona California in December 1970 he studied Judo, Sport Ju-Jitsu. Sensei again was sent to Wiesbaden AB, Germany. Sensei was later assigned to March AFB, California where he met Ron Granville Sensei. This would be the time he began his Aikido training. Francis Sensei studied Aikido and Ki Development and was soon honored by being asked to teach Granville’s Sensei children’s class and assisted teaching the adult classes to the base personnel.

July 1982 Francis Sensei was sent to Misawa AB, Japan. While assigned there he taught adults and children’s Aikido classes to base personnel, and local Japanese civilians and military. Techniques and teaching methods were shared between him and a local Aikido instructor Koshitaka Sensei of the Japanese Air Defense Force, who taught Aikido, along with the ranking Master in Japan of the martial art of Shorinji Kempo Karate. He was also an officer in the Japanese Air Defense Force. Still in Japan Sensei taught area defense and parameter defense tactics to the Civil Engineer “PRIME BEEF” mobility teams.

Francis Sensei has over 27 years experience teaching Aikido. Sensei is a 2nd degree black belt in the Shin-Shin Toitsu Aikido of Kochei Tohei Sensei, a 3rd degree black belt in the Suenaka-ha Aikido of Roy Suenaka Sensei, and is currently a 6th degree black belt in the Dojin Aikikai Aikido of Ron Granville Sensei. Francis Sensei is the founder of the Aiki Tai Ho Do Aikido system, which is dedicated to the instruction of law enforcement officers in suspect control tactics and approved by T.C.L.O.S.E. Texas Commission for Law enforcement Officers Standards Education.
